Meet William R. Barksdale and Allison N. Douglis, two of the exceptional lawyers who joined our partnership ranks in 2026, and discover why they call Jenner home.

Allison Douglis is a partner in Jenner’s New York office, focusing on content, media, and entertainment litigation, including copyright, trademark, advertising, and internet law. She’s also known for counseling clients on generative AI and intellectual property considerations, and for her work representing and advising educational institutions on civil rights and First Amendment matters.

Will Barksdale is a Washington, DC partner in Jenner’s Energy Practice, where he advises clients on complex energy regulatory issues, helping them comply with FERC rules and regulations and advocate for needed reforms. He joined the firm in 2023 as the fourth senior addition to the Energy Practice that year and was named partner effective January 2026.

Given the Opportunity to Grow

Elena Olivieri’s Jenner Story

Elena Marie Olivieri joined Jenner’s Chicago office as a project assistant in 2014, wanting real-world legal experience before law school. Sitting in on hearings and traveling for cases confirmed she was on the right path. “I got to see and do things I wouldn’t normally have as a project assistant,” Elena recalls. “The lawyers I worked with knew I was interested in becoming a lawyer myself, and they made the effort to give me opportunities to learn more.” Partner David J. Bradford gave her substantive work well beyond her role, and later wrote her law school recommendation letter.

After a formative stretch in law school, the decision to return felt obvious: back to Chicago, back to Jenner. She returned as a summer associate, landing on a trial team for an antitrust case that gave her an interest in the practice area. By the time she came back full-time in 2019, the lawyers who’d watched her grow helped steer her toward antitrust work.

“The people I work with are one of the main reasons I’ve stayed,” Elena says. “I’ve had mentors who treat me as an equal colleague while still guiding me through cases. Partner Douglas Litvack in the antitrust practice has been particularly integral to my growth as an attorney, giving me interesting cases and challenging opportunities. The firm and my colleagues have also helped me through some difficult times—when I needed time off to help care for a terminally ill parent, everyone stepped up without a second thought.”

Law was never distant for Elena. Her grandfather never got the opportunity to attend college but had always dreamed of a legal career. Elena’s father, an employment and immigration attorney, picked up that aspiration and shaped her fascination with the field through kitchen-table talk of strategy and hard problems solved. Elena is happy to carry the family dream forward as a member of Jenner's Hispanic Lawyers Forum, staying connected to her Puerto Rican heritage.

Today, Elena is a member of the Business Litigation Practice, and her practice focuses on class action defense and antitrust litigation.

Tomi Johnson is an associate in the Investigations, Compliance, and Defense Practice. She earned her JD from USC Gould School of Law in 2022, where she led as senior articles editor, class president, and BLSA president, and an AB in public and international affairs from Princeton in 2016.

Partner Cayman Mitchell is a litigator focused on high-stakes IP disputes at the intersection of law and technology, drawing on a computer science background to handle complex matters involving AI, cryptography, and cloud infrastructure. They’ve led trial teams for clients like Nintendo of America and drafted a Supreme Court amicus brief in Google v. Oracle.
